Makeup Policy

All makeups are to be arranged in advance with Mrs. Keating based on availability. You can arrange by emailing afdtravelteam@gmail.com, texting 330.261.2186 or messaging through the Sports Engine app. Makeups MUST be scheduled AT LEAST 24 hours in advance AND within a week of the absence. Mrs. Keating's office hours are Monday - Friday 9am-11am. Any responses outside of these times might be delayed.

 

Reasons makeups will be granted:

  • Illness
  • Injury
  • School-graded Events (example, band concert)
  • AFD cancellation due to weather, unplanned facility closures, staffing, etc.

Reasons makeups are denied:

  • Family vacations
  • Too much homework
  • Attending a Dive Camp (incidentally, all Dive Camps must be approved by AFD Staff before attending by emailing afdtravelteam@gmail.com)
  • Didn't feel like it today
  • Other commitments (social, other sports, etc)

There might be some one-off instances that we grant makeups for as well. Feel free to ask Mrs. Keating if you have any questions. All makeups must be completed within a week of the absence during the same diving session, example if your absence is during the January/February Registration Session, your makeup MUST be arranged/completed by the end of the session.

COVID19 UPDATE: Hello to all AFD families from Coach Marc

Hello to all AFD families,

First off I hope all of you & your families are staying healthy! This is a lengthy note but I ask that you please read it in its entirety.

I would like to begin with saying that obviously this is quite a unique situation to be finding ourselves in. As with so many of us, I was stunned to find myself in an unfortunately unique situation that I did not ever foresee myself experiencing. The where & how to move forward for AFD is very uncharted waters so we are trying to take this step by step.

I am sure many of you are wondering what will happen & what is next? We are trying to take it 1 day at a time. As a business we will continue to provide as much "home work" in the form of work outs, lessons, challenges, ideas & feed back to our athletes as we can for as long as we can. We will try to communicate with them as much as possible. Now, in my opinion many of our athletes can & will benefit with some down time from diving by focusing on other elements that we don't always have the time or make the time to focus on when we are running normally in the water. Moving forward we will be trying to establish a more concrete schedule for catching up & chatting to stay in contact with the kids. At the same time, I am aware that it doesn't make up for actual water training.

That being said, as we're getting a better idea of how long this could potentially last, I can't require your normal investments whether you pay monthly or by session without providing face-to-face, personal & hands-on coaching. I understand that we all need to be mindful & careful of our expenses moving forward. So as the month of March ends we will be making some adjustments:

  • We will be issuing a 50% refund for the month of March to everyone that was signed up & paid in March.
  • For those of you that pay by the month we are also cancelling the auto billing for April & May. If you wish to maintain some form of payment you can do so by using the "friends of AFD" to help support in anyway you wish.
  • For those of you that paid for the full spring session (March/April/May), of course we appreciate the payments in advance but we understand refunds will be in order for April & May if you wish. Please contact us individually in order to request how you would like us to proceed with refunds.
  • This change will nullify our original plan to provide August as a free make-up month, provided we are able to resume classes by August
  •  

I am very disappointed to not be able to be coaching in a full capacity & do miss coaching & interacting with your children. On one hand, our expenses have diminished as we don't need to pay for pool rentals & lifeguards; but on the other hand, we still do have expenses and families to care for so I will ask that you think of that as we move forward with all of these refunds. If you are able to help in maintaining some form of payment we would, of course, absolutely appreciate any help. 

We will take 1 day at a time & each coming month in stride & make decisions based on what is happening at that time.
